Can't think of anything witty
Well, it's going to be a short update since someone, not naming names (DAN!), made a comment about me blogging a lot. If I were that person, I wouldn't be calling the pot black, or however that goes...I can point out a few instances where this person's blog has been on the long side. Just messing with you Dan, you know that I have to hate from far away now...it's all just getting bottled up inside. Just wait 'til I come home! (You know I heart you...especially when you get a whole paragraph dedicated to you ;))
Umm...the kids were alright today. I feel bad for them since all we're doing this week and next is testing. This week we have 2 days dedicated to some standardized testing (Damn you NCLB!!), and then next week we have a chapter test in math (should've been working on getting a review put together for them tonight, but I got into the basketball games that Roger was watching). It has to be hard for them coming in and getting used to a new teacher, and then being put through lots of tests...seeing as how I have to test them to see what level reading groups they need to be put into as well...I hate testing kids...but it's now my job. Anyhoos...We did a lot of review today. I had them actually working hard with some things, and was able to run long with a lesson. I know I shouldn't normally do that, but...they were working hard (got a pompom), and enjoying the lesson. I had to take it and run with it. I guess you can say it was a touchdown for me...sorry, had to. After lunch things went downhill again. I need to find something to get them to settle down. I read to them after recess everyday. Today I even turned off the lights and had them put their heads down...still didn't help. They had a total of 7 pompoms today, but during math they had 3 taken away. I even used that as an example today in math. "I want you to write a number sentence for this story problem I tell you. Miss Phipps' class has 7 pompoms. They were not doing as Miss Phipps asked them, so she took 3 away. How many pompoms are there now?" It kind of got them on the right track, but not really. Oh well, at least they have one more than yesterday.
I've already been seeing the future of some of my kids. One is going to be a famous musician. He's always singing (inappropriate songs...today it was "1,2 Step"), and can never walk down the hall without dancing. He's adorable, but a handful. And then there's my crier. I'm always blessed with the criers. I can understand why he cries, but still...I have the countdown going, and I'm ready to take the bottle over to Dan's to celebrate when I get home!
I thought I would be able to relax and watch some quality programming this evening as well...well, after the games...but of course, Gilmore Girls and The Office are not on tonight because of some specials...not cool people, not cool...
Only 13 more school days and I'll be on my way home! (17 days and 2 hours!)
